EU 6th Framework Progamme (FP6)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The NMI3 project falls within the activity ‘Structuring the European Research Area – Research Infrastructures’ of the EU 6th Framework programme.

In the EU Framework Programme 6 (FP6) all of the different activities related to a common type of Research Infrastructure are combined into a single project - an Integrated Infrastructure Initiative (I3). The Integrated Infrastructure Initiative for Neutron Scattering and Muon Spectroscopy (NMI3) brings together 23 partners from 14 countries, including 11 research infrastructures, together with other interested organisations.

NMI3 includes:
12 Access Activities
offering European users approximately 5000 beam days of access to 150 instruments at different facilities, with support for travel and subsistence

8 Joint Research Activities
to develop instrumentation and techniques, involving 50 research groups

Networking Activities
to spread the results, expand the user community and plan for the future
