Draft outline programme - Workshop on future developments of European Muon Sources
2-3 November, 2006

Session 1: Introduction and context
• To include an outline of possible Framework Programme 7 mechanisms which may be relevant to muon development plans.
Session 2: Overview of present muon source capabilities in the EC and elsewhere.
• Overview of the characteristics of current European muon sources, and those elsewhere in the world, together with their currrent development plans
• Review of current and envisaged muon technique developments such as slow-muons, high applied fields, RF-?SR, high pressures, high data rates, etc. To include possibilities for high-intensity facilities.
• Discussion of muon technology issues that may be relevant, e.g. detectors and data rates (pulsed / continuous sources may have different issues here).
Session 3: Future European neutron source possibilities.
A general description plus beam characteristics of, for example, ESS-I, Lund proposals, ISIS 1 MW+ upgrades, etc
Session 4: Future European muon sources.
• Discussion of how future European neutron sources may be appropriate for muon production.
• Discussion of large-scale development possibilities at existing European muon sources
• Discussion of green-field muon sources
• Outline of further work, including technology development for muons.
Session 5: Development of a science case for muons.
Discussion on the development of a science case for muons
