ISIS
|
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
|
Oxford, UK |
The ISIS synchrotron produces a beam of protons which is pulsed with a repetition rate of 50 Hz
|
October 1985. |
Source of pulsed muons |
MuSR, EMU and ARGUS spectrometers, together with the DEVA development beam, are used by international researchers to perform muon spin rotation / relaxation / resonance (µSR) experiments. |
|
| SµS (Swiss Muon Source) |
Paul Scherrer Institute - PSI |
near Villigen, Switzerland. |
Continous source.
590 MeV isochronous proton cyclotron |
Start Operation: Accelerator 1974, µSR Facility 1988
[µSR as such started in 1974] |
Intense beams of positively or negatively charged, spin-polarised muons are available at the PSI Accelerator Facilities in the experimental areas µE1, µE4, piM3, piE1, piE3, and piE5. |
5 different µSR Facility Instruments: GPS, LTF, Dolly, GPD, ALC. Unique LMU Developments: A Low-Energy Muon Beam and µSR Spectrometer for the study of thin films, layers and surfaces, and the Extraction of Muons On Request for high frequency resolution and slow relaxation measurements. |
